Hello DeviantART 1rst Journal Post

Hello All

It's been about a month since my last post, rest assured I have not been resting on any of my efforts or pursuits. There's just been so much going on behind the scenes. From Film making, to painting to....starting my DeviantART account. That's right, yours truly, is now on DeviantART. So check out the page and buy some of my prints!! :)

Below you will find my first journal posting on my DeviantART profile as well as a link to my page there. And as always, I am thankful for all the support here on my original blog page. Keep checking both and btw...in the coming weeks I will have a review/opinion piece to post that I have been working on as well as a couple of new paintings.

MY FIRST DEVIANTART JOURNAL POST :)

Where to begin...this is my very first entry and while I love writing on my own time, for some reason when it comes time to write on an online source and speak to the public, I find myself often at a loss for words...

I suppose I will talk a little more about myself and how I sort of stumbled back into doing art after an almost 7 year hiatus. In my younger years, I was involved with everything and ANYTHING artistic, I did ballet, I was a writer, I painted, I sketched, anything I could to creatively express myself, I did it. It all started with a comic book when I was 8 years old, I saw the drawings and decided to learn how to mimic those shape manipulations. Then this became the main inspiration for many a doodle that stemmed from boredom in a class room. This continued until my senior year in high school.

Then came the years of extreme blockage, I went to college and I stopped drawing and painting. Writing had now become an obligation for school work and no longer fun, so I no longer felt inspired to create much of well....anything. Life unfortunately was not the happiest for me during this time period...we'll leave it at that. What I did find enjoyable at this time though...was cooking, so that became my new creative outlet and my eventual undoing of my waistline lol...

Then one day, I was messing around on Facebook and saw on the side of the page an advertisement for an event called "ArtJamz". I clicked and read on, then purchased a ticket.

I will say, I was nervous to say the very least...I hadn't so much as picked up a paint brush in 7 years!!! What the hell was I going to paint if I could still paint at all.

So that Friday night, I showed up, I was given my supplies and I stood in front of a rather daunting blank white canvas. What in the world was I going to fill this thing with?? So, I took a deep breath, dipped my paint brush into the black paint, and began manipulating the shapes into the face of a woman. I then made her hair crazy, curly, and wild. I took a step back and looked....so far not bad...

Then I added color, red, then orange, then a lighter orange. And thus, My Lady of Fire was born, she inspired me to do a collection of paintings based on the 4 elements, I still have the element Water to finish.

From there I began painting more and more, and I haven't stopped since. So here it all is, and it all started with a fun Red Head/Ginger.

Enjoy and tell me what you think! :)
